When do you start giving time out? I would like to start giving my 22 mo old time outs when he does something wrong but the problem is that he won’t sit still for even 30 seconds.  Especially if he knows he’s being punished.  IS it too early to give him a time out?  How can I make him stay there?

RE:When do you start giving time out? We designated a chair away from the play area that we use whenever our kids (7, 4, and 2) didn’t listen.  Once they are a little older, maybe 4, they learn to sit there by themselves but until then I would go with them and stand with them for a minute or so until they were finished.  I thought about putting straps or something on the chair but thought it was better to have them learn themselves.  Just make sure you don’t talk or play… or it won’t be a punishment.
