How do you control yourself?
My son is 20 mos old and has recently started really testing me and my patience! For example he will climb up onto the kitchen chairs and stand on it and jump… I ask him nicely to please sit down in the chair… he then looks at me, smiles, and continues to jump. I would never do anything to hurt him, but sometimes it makes me so mad I have to walk away and take a deep breath in order to try and camly discipline him. I’m sure it’s just a phase but how do you keep your cool when they can make you so mad!

I do exactly the same thing… walk away, take some breaths and regain my “cool” before trying to deal with whatever the situation is. Sometimes I even step outside for a minute… as long as everyone’s safe. It’s so hard!

I count to ten and then try to talk to my daughter about whatever she’s doing. One of the furniture stores had a commercial about this I think… It tlked about having a spot for time out and then you see the mom locked in her room. Pretty funny but really dead on!
