So here’s my story… I was able to take a year off when our daughter was born and now that year is up and I have to go back to work tomorrow!  I started her in daycare last week so I could get last minute errands done and get used to leaving her myself.  Problem is that every time I have left her (3 times now) she screams her head off and it is making me feel so guilty!  I wouldn’t trade my time with her for the world but now I am question ing if it is going to be harder for her now than if I had gone back to work right away.  Please help us get through this!

First off… don’t second guess youself! I’m sure many mommies would have killed for the opportunity to stay home with their babies for the first year!  Give her a little time to adjust and I’m sure she’ll have a blast playing with all her new friends!

I agree, it’s hard to go back to work at any time but it is probably harder when the child knows you’re leaving too.  At 8 weeks the baby doesn’t really know that you’re leaving so you don’t have the “extra” guilt.  I try to make my goodbye short and sweet and the same every time… she’ll adjust and soon probably won’t even look back to say goodbye!
